Summer is here and romance is in the air

Sbeach wedding frameummer is here and romance is in the air; perfect time for a destination beach wedding in beautiful South Florida. Escape to sub-tropical paradise while leaving the stress of your everyday lives behind you.
Can you imagine yourself on your wedding day; walking down the sandy aisle, covered with fresh flower petals; the gentle afternoon breeze escorting you into your future; the melody of gentle waves and seagulls caressing the shoreline nearby? Whether you are surrounded by family and friends or are accompanied only by nature; you are certain to have a wedding day you will never forget.
Is the idea of a destination wedding romantic and enchanting; the tropical flowers, the warm ocean breeze, the sound of the sea rolling lazily on the shoreline? Of course this sounds wonderful, but who will help you organize it when you live on another continent or keep you relaxed as your big day approaches? Ideal I Do's!
Here at Ideal I Do's - an affordable destination wedding is in your budget - you have several choices when planning your destination wedding; organize on your own, organize through a resort or organize through a professional wedding planner located right here in South Florida..
Now, more than ever, couples are saying “I do” later in life. And for many of these long-time lovers it is their first marriage. While a traditional marriage ceremony still attracts many Newlyweds, it is becoming more popular to find couples looking for a unique, unforgettable wedding experience such as a romantic beach wedding.
beach wedding easily carries the images of happiness, relaxation and fun, not stress and worry as a traditional wedding with hundreds of people you don’t know, often has.
On the Florida Beach water plays a large role in many of our local celebrations. If it’s wet on a wedding day, it is believed to both cleanse and purify the body and soul; allowing a marriage to begin fresh and new. The more water that passes over your skin on a day of celebration, the more purified you become. So if it happens to be a little wet on your wedding day, do what the Floridians do and embrace it. If the weather is dry, ask about the  Shell or Water Blessing if you want to guarantee this important tradition during your destination wedding ceremony.

The Beach Wedding Dress

The Wedding dress is the 2nd thing a bride does after she gets the question popped - (the first is to pick a date)

A beach wedding requires a beach wedding dress.  how do you ensure that your wedding dress will look its best on the beach?

Two words: Pick carefully.  Many of you are having beach destination weddings and are concerned with how your dress is going to travel!

Keep it covered and in a bag or wrap with tissue paper or blank newsprint paper.  It should be given to you in a garment bag by the wedding dress store. At home, or when you get to your hotel,  take it out immediately and hang it from the highest possible point, so the train and hemline don't touch the floor.

For traveling? Return the dress to the garment bag and repeat the process later. When flying, ask if you can carry it onboard?or you'll risk tying the knot in your tracksuit.
Should anything happen to stain or wrinkle the dress, don't take matters into your own hands. Trying to dab out even the lightest smudge can leave water marks, and ironing a fabric like tulle can transform it into a burnt, crispy mess. Call your bridal salon for help or, if you can't reach it, the nearest cleaner.

2. Which white will work for my skin tone?
With more than 200 shades of white to choose from, the only way to know which one looks best on you is trial and error. Contrary to popular belief, few wedding dresses come in pure white?which is a good thing, because pure white washes out all but the richest and deepest skin tones. Most women will end up with a gown in the ivory family that flatters their skin tone. Keep these suggestions in mind:

If you're fair-skinned, look for ivory shades containing yellow undertones.
If you have a pinker complexion, choose creamy undertones.
If you have olive, yellow-based, or dark skin, select champagne or off-white shades.

3.What is the best fabric for a beach wedding?
We like fabrics that are not tight or binding like taffeta or satin can be if they are skin tight.  Its always a bit windy at the beach, get something that will go with that.
You can find descriptions of common fabrics at fabric.com, but your best bet is to get your hands on the real thing, either at a bridal salon or a fabric store. Fabrics have individual strengths and weaknesses, depending on your priorities.

We feel beach wedding dresses can be less formal,  gauzier, transparent fabrics, like organza and tulle, are better for achieving a romantic, ethereal effect. (It never hurts to ask if you can order your dream gown in a different fabric.)

Want to save some money? Check out rayon blends, which have the look of silk without the expense.
To get a sense of how a fabric will behave over the course of your wedding, bunch it up tightly in your hand. If it’s wrinkled after a minute or so, imagine what it will look like by midnight.

Ideal I Do's Goes to Vegas (baby! - sorry - couldn't help it!)

I was so thrilled to spend 4 days at the Las Vegas Market - one of the biggest furniture and home accessory shows in the country. I stayed at the very nice Monte Carlo Casino, and I was so excited because I found lots of ECO-FRIENDLY furniture and really unique stuff that will soon be listed in the upcoming Ideal I Do's gift registry!  I saw Christopher Lowell give a lecture on design and met so many nice and responsible manufacturers!  Stay tuned!

AHH the Holidays!

Here's a pre-holiday weekend in the life of Ideal I Do's: Last Saturday: I had three weddings.  One was a morning wedding in a hotel between 2 80 year olds.   Then I had a couple getting married on the beach (cue the driving, pouring cold rain) so we moved it inside to the Briny Pub, a cozy, quirky place that has been on the beach for 30 years or more.  Then I had a committment ceremony between 2 women under a chuppah.

Honestly, if I did that every single weekend until I died, I would die very,  very happy.

All the Best!

Happy Xmas, New Year, Kwanza etc.

Art Basel Weekend - Or A Soap Box Moment

This weekend I had the privilege of attending Art Basel in Miami Beach, one of the biggest art events in the world.  I feel lucky to live in a place where art is cherished and promoted.  Art is essential to life.  Expression, talent, perseverance, creativity - aren't these the basics of humanity? Looking at things differently: creatively, spiritually, helps us all to grow as human beings.   It makes me so upset when I hear that arts budgets are cut in everything from schools to cities.  Art is a necessity, not a extravagance!  Support the Arts!
